Plans underway!

  • Barcelona-based colleague, Juana Sancho Gil of the University of Barcelona, Spain, is planning a WG9.2 workshop that will be held on Thursday and Friday 3 and 4 March 2016. More news out soon in January 2016!
  • The 2016 summer school on privacy and identity issues is likely to be held the week of 22-26 August 2016, most likely in Karlstad, Switzerland. Again, more news out later in January/February 2016!

Plans underway!

  • February 2015. Plans are underway to organise an IFIP WG9.2 meeting in the UK in February 2015, possibly on Monday 23rd February 2015 (more details about this a little later in the early new year). The idea is for the content to be similar to that planned for ETHICOMP 2015 (see below).
  • February 2015. A selected number of WG9.2 members – with an interest in education and computing – have been invited to attend and to present at a meeting co-organised with, among others, the International Baccalaureate. It is focused around plans for tomorrow’s digital citizens, thanks to IFIP WG9.2 member, Richard Taylor of the International Baccalaureate. Plans underway!

  • February 2015. There are plans underway to organise the next IFIP WG9.2 meeting in the UK in February 2015. A second meeting, co-organised with the International Baccalaureate (among others) will be focused around plans for tomorrow’s digital citizens, thanks to IFIP WG9.2 member, Richard Taylor. More information in late November/early December 2014.
  • 1 February 2015 (Call for papers). ETHICOMP 2015: 20 Years of ETHICOMP: A Celebration, De Montfort University, Leicester, UK, Monday to Wednesday, 7-9 September 2015. You are especially invited to submit a paper to the TC9/WG9.2-oriented track called “ICT and Society: social accountability, professional ethics and the challenges of virtuality and the cloud”. Several other tracks/themes are of interest: information ethics studies, digital do-it-yourself, responsible research and innovation in industry, robo-ethics, and more. The conference proceedings will be on an online open-access repository to ensure good coverage. WG9.2 members are especially welcome! http://www.dmu.ac.uk/ethicomp2015.

11th Human Choice and Computers International Conference (HCC11)

Forty years since the first Human Choice and Computers conference was held, over 70 people attended the bi-annual ICT and Society flagship conference (HCC11). Attendees came from as far afield as Australia, Japan, South Africa and the United States. There were also many local Finnish, Nordic, and European participants present.
